Clouds are usually edited out of composite satellite images, where several have been pieced together to look as one. Russian Siberian “taiga” (coniferous/boreal/needleleaf evergreen forest) is pretty green here, so we know that those contributing images are from summer.
Look how dry China is South of it (just ‘above’ Russia on top image)! These shots could only be from winter during China’s dry monsoon.
