Bending of waves is pretty because they are curvaceous into little coves and around points.

Likewise, as West winds blow into Santa Monica Bay perpendicular to the coastline, they curve inland onto the coastal plain. The hotter it is inland by convection over concrete, the more air has risen and sharper the pressure gradient force, so West winds speed up.

In Torrance Friday our 100-degree heat made air rise, quickening the incoming sea breeze.
